Sam
Sam was a great dog, parentage unknown, a few bucks at the Humane Society and  the best investment I ever made.

To look at, he was part German Shepherd Dog, part Collie though he never weighed above 50 pounds, and I always suspected there was some springbok in there somewhere, though I'm told you can't cross species like that.  <g>  He did have a unique way of bounding on all four legs, though, just as if he were on springs.

His intelligence, the way he looked, his fearlessness in the face of strange things and stranger people, everything but his size and that white ruff, all said GSD to me.
So, in a way, every one of my dogs is a tribute to Sam.  He's the one who led me into my enduring love and admiration for the finest of breeds, the German Shepherd Dog.

Not bad for a random breed somebody threw away.
