My girl was funny, bright, demanding and a "puppy" all her life.  She had charm right down to the ground and the ability to charm any human child.  Even those most afraid of dogs, even damaged children loved her. And trusted her implicitly.  Kids were her favorite therapy gig, always.  I think she loved kids more than food.

She had the best life possible and enjoyed it until the very end.  She was a grand girl with all of her difficulties.  I'm saddest for what might have been;  she'll always be my "if only" girl.  "If only" she had been whole and healthy, we would still be sharing our lives.

With all her troubles, she yet managed to share her love and to teach her humans how to give and share and care.  We will long remember her lessons.

Madeleine, Maddy, Ma-Doodle, Doodle-Bump, Little Bit, Ma Dearie, MadWoman, MadMan, Baby Girl...we miss you in all your many guises.
I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end,
The way it all would go.
Our lives
Are better left to chance.
I would have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss
The Dance...
